Description

I distinctly remember taking this photo near the end of the deployment. Taylor, a friend I made along the way, caught my eye sitting at the back of a station during a replenishment at sea. We did these so called "ras's" every week, and after nine months, it became a boring and tedious task for the Sailors. I was just about to head inside after we were connected and fueling with the other ship, and as I turned around and saw Taylor she seemed better than she had in recent months, and laughed embarrassingly at me because she was 'hot and sweaty', and her 'makeup was melting off' as she put it.

The official caption reads:

"Seaman Taylor Leverty, from St. Paul, Minn., communicates with the Military Sealift Command fast combat support ship USNS Arctic (T-AOE 8) during a replenishment-at-sea aboard the aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 71). Theodore Roosevelt is deployed in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations supporting Operation Inherent Resolve, strike operations in Iraq and Syria as directed, maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in the region."
